Summary of the position:

Under the supervision of the production supervisor, the main task is to seal specific sections of aircraft and specific parts, in compliance with established quality standards. Sealant technicians are involved in the preparation and application of sealant on different aeronautical components.

Main Responsibilities:

• Apply sealant according to operational standards. Perform visual inspection of components and ensure the quality and compliance of the work done.

Planning:

• Estimate the scope of work and the time needed;
• Select the materials required;
• Prepare the work area;
• Prepare ground support equipment such as stands, scissor lifts, scaffolding, ladders and carts.

Surface Preparation:

• Clean aircraft, parts, and components for application and inspection.

Coating Application:

• Clean surfaces by scrubbing with tack cloth before applying the coating;
• Apply coatings.

Quality Assurance and Equipment Maintenance:

• Document repair and application;
• Evaluate the finished product and completed task according to defined specifications.

Job Requirements:

Academic Education:

• DEP in structure assembly or system installation; OR
• 2 years of experience in aerodynamics or as a sealant technician.

Specific Requirements:

• Attention to detail, precision, good reflexes, concentration,
• Ability to distinguish finishes and textures,
• Ability to notice pertinent details,
• Able to work at heights (cradle),
• Excellent manual dexterity,
• Adaptability to technological changes,
• Teamwork skills (multidisciplinary team).

Working Conditions:

• Physical effort: involves manual activities on aircraft that sometimes need to be performed in uncomfortable positions, bending, twisting, working in confined spaces or at heights.

• Physical work environment: exposed to factory noise and occasional handling of chemicals. Work in confined spaces or at heights daily.

• Human work environment: needs to be autonomous but also work as a team. Must be rigorous, methodical, flexible, and punctual. A good technical level to communicate with team leaders, method agents, and engineers.
