We offer you to work at Airbus Atlantique, a new global champion, No. 2 in aerostructures, No. 1 in pilot seats, and in the Top 3 of Premium passenger seats. Our Airbus Atlantique site based in Mirabel is looking for its future Tooling Specialist.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Head of Tooling Design Office for the G8000 and A220 programs at Airbus Atlantique Canada in Mirabel, your responsibility will be to define, acquire, set up, and maintain templates and tooling. Your daily work must be done in compliance with health and safety standards.
Your Challenges:
- Manage all templates and tooling: requirement study, acquisition, implementation, production, control (certification), and repair or replacement.
- Gather production tooling and methods needs, analyze them, and critique if necessary.
- Manage requests from various departments according to productivity needs. Seek technical solutions by analyzing different options from suppliers.
- Develop risk management plans including mitigation plans.
- Cost a technical solution based on a need and carry out quotations.
- Determine required tooling according to production tasks, create and provide illustrations for suppliers and perform testing.
- Approve suppliers' tooling drawings (CDR).
- Establish and approve changes to tools and tooling drawings and provide technical support.
- Rigorously follow up with suppliers (according to milestones).
- Conduct supplier visits or factory visits for suppliers if needed.
- Propose and implement improvements to existing tooling in collaboration with production and Manufacturing Engineering department.
- Design prototypes or manufacturing tooling in preparation for production.
- Lead installations or industrial transfers (dismantling, assembly of production means, production lines, ...).
- Manage activities of different phases of projects: feasibility study, project mandate and business plan, acquisition, implementation, and production.
- Keep dates up-to-date to ensure better visibility to the client.
- Verify that all necessary documents for the business are provided.
- Be the signer of milestone reports for all tooling.
- Act as a referent on internal processes in implementation (training) and application.
- Conduct investigations during major problems to identify dysfunction causes and implement corrective measures.
- Be able to train and audit BEO members.
Your Profile:
- Diploma in tooling design or university degree in mechanical engineering, industrial product design, or other relevant degrees.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in methods or tooling.
- Member of the OIQ (an asset).
- Experience in manufacturing and mechanical 'design'.
- Experience in the aerospace sector and medium series production support.
- Knowledge of assembly processes (key characteristics of a simple or complex assembly tool, capability analysis tool ...).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Ability to use and interpret aeronautical standards.
- Ability to create or interpret a manufacturing range.
- Mastery of tolerance principles and chain of dimensions.
- Knowledge of elementary parts would be a plus.
- Knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Office, Catia V5.
- Proactive, team spirit, responsiveness, rigor.
Skills
- Good relational skills and ability to demonstrate leadership.
- Very good knowledge of technical limits.
- Known for the ability to work both in teams and independently.
- Has good relational skills and knows how to adapt communication to the relevant interlocutor, whether internally or with the client encountered daily. As such, persuasive power allows arguing on technical aspects courteously and educationally.
- Enthusiastic by nature, enjoys working in a paced environment and unexpected situations.
- Ability to respond with calm and responsiveness by providing quality work.
